Although Aurora Loan Services is a former subsidiary of Lehman Brothers Bank, the organization is not part of the Lehman’s bankruptcy action. According to Mortgage Servicing News, despite the problems of its parent, Aurora is the 11th largest mortgage servicer in the U.S.

For those having trouble meeting their mortgage payments, Aurora primarily emphasizes Obama’s Homeowner Affordability and Stability Plan. The company assessed all of its home loans and posted a notice of eligibility on the accounts of  those that seemed to qualify for government assistance. If you have a home loan with Aurora log on here to take a look at your account.

If you don’t seem to meet the criteria, Aurora has provided a couple of self assessment tools to see if you qualify for either refinance or loan modification.

Aurora also expresses a willingness to work with borrowers planning to give up their home through a Short Sale or Deed-in-Lieu of Foreclosure.
