As of April 5th, the Obama Administration is adding a new Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives, HAFA, to its efforts to allow borrowers to avoid foreclosure through short sales or a deed-in-lieu of foreclosure option.
It’s all too easy to get disheartened about your mortgage difficulties and simply decide to pack up and walk away from your home, especially if your mortgage is now substantially greater than the value of your house.
Under new guidelines, mortgage lenders would be eligible for government incentives if they allow borrowers to sell their homes at a loss. These short sales are less costly and time consuming compared to foreclosures.
