For 2009, Illinois ranked 9th among all states in foreclosure rate, an increase of 31.81% from the year before. Nationally, 2009 was the worse year for foreclosures in US history, with 2.8 million property owners receiving a foreclosure notice.
The Obama Administration awarded 88.5 Million in homeless grants to more than 350 local housing and service programs in Illinois - U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan announced in July that the Obama Administration is awarding $88.5 million in grants to more than 350 local homeless agencies throughout Illinois.
